Out and About in a Yard in the Sky

Yardisabi and his daughter went to New York today and experienced a small section of The Highline Park which is a park built on the remains of an old elevated freight line in the old meat packing district. It runs from  Gansevoort to West 30th Streets but 30 feet in the air. It was also the inspiration for one of Yardisabi's favorite books for children, The Curious Garden by Peter Brown.

Don't know but they are pretty and there are an awful lot of them.

Here are some of the things popping at Yardisabi this week.

Random July

We've been a little busy this summer and so have not shared our pix with you. So here are a few from earlier in the month and also from today to make up for it.

We are not sure if he hurt himself or not. He seemed to be a little dazed and confused. Prior to this he had been chasing a squirrel in the crab apple tree and had dropped/fallen out of it.

Whats the story....

A young dragonfly I think.

Old spent morning glory bloom surrounded by new ones.

One of the unforeseen advantages of the way we set up the morning glory trellis is the ability to take shots from behind.

I love closeups.

Just a great look at the structure of the morning glory.

Young Hawk

This immature Redtail Hawk greeted us in the driveway when we got home today. He was kind enough to let us park, get out of the car, grabbed our camera and returned to the driveway to shoot these.

Excitement and New Beginnings

It has been a busy weekend here at Yardisabi. Beds have been raked out, leaves blown and even a brick patio repaired.

Here are some shots of the excitement and evidence of new beginnings here. All taken Sunday April 10th 2011.

We look happy that winter is finally over. The birds at the feeder seem to be ok with us being in the yard ten feet away. Maybe it's their way of saying thanks for the 50 pounds of free food this winter. [sarah]

Not sure what these are but they are they are everywhere. Since we both take pictures of them I am not even sure whose picture this is.

We think this is a Tree Sparrow. [skip]
