Out and About, Maine Edition: The Double-Crested Cormorant and The Osprey That Commutes

This guy flies by always going the same way, left to right. He settles in the trees on the other side of a point that sticks out into the lake.

We never see him/her go back the other way but here is the flyby from today plus;

  • A Double-Crested Cormorant stops by.
  • A bunch of Common Loons does Loon Yoga, it's a thing.
  • The Spotted Sandpiper returns to hunt water bugs and Common Blue Damselflies
  • The Ring-Billed Seagull chooses a new rock

I feel that one cannot have too much "Osprey".

Out and About, Maine Edition: Two More Firsts (From a Long Way Away)

Illustrating just how much I need a 2x Nikkor Teleconverter, these are two birds from a long way away in crappy light. First is a Common Loon shot from a great distance away.
The second, and a rare one for this area, is a Semipalmated Plover. I initially thought that it was a Killdeer but was delighted that it wasn't.

Common Loon.
