This was taken from my first camera, a Pentax X90. |
I started with a Pentax X90 point and shoot. It's a nice starter camera and the Great Blue Heron shot above was taken with it.
It has a 26x telephoto lens and shoots at 12 megapixels.
The new, "big gun", of my backyard birding arsenal is a Nikon D850.
It shoots at 45.7 megapixels and is a beast.
Current lenses are:
- Nikkor 50mm VR
- Nikkor 70mm-200mm (which is not a full-frame lens and so has some vignetting)
- Nikkor 200mm-500mm VR
I use a monopod or Zomei Tripod with a when using those sorts of things. The Gimbal Head has been a game-changer.
All post is done on a Macbook Pro and a lot of that is in Lightroom or Photoshop from the camera RAW files.
I have also been using some of the fabulous apps from Topaz Labs. The bundle I purchased is DeNoise AI, Sharpen AI, and Gigapixel AI. I do tend to use Sharpen the most but DeNoise has come in handy too.
