A Cool Cardinal Shot and Some Old Glass

As we begin to play with the camera's features we discover new and exciting things to take picture of.

Some are just lucky shots like this of one of the male Cardinals.

or this one of Fatso the Red-Bellied Woodpecker.

Then there are shots taken of things around the house, like the old glass in the windows.

Red-Tailed Hawk

I was watching, the birds disappeared and then this one came swooping in and landed out in a tree.

I think it's a Red Tailed Hawk since I have seen one around here before.

Blue Jay

This morning we had two Blue Jays fighting over territory. I couldn't get the camera fast enough. The dominant scared the other away.

Here is the victor.

Song Sparrow

From what I can find, this appears to be an adult Song Sparrow (Eastern Form). He was new this morning.

Titmice [insert Peter Griffin Laugh Here]

Tufted Titmice are birds I remember from my youth in New Canaan. We have several that seem to have taken us up on our hospitality.

Cardinals

We have a pair of Cardinals that seem to have decided to winter with us. There was another pair this summer but obviously the female "suggested" they go somewhere else and so are not around.

Carol and Bob seem to be happy here and we love the splash of color they bring to our bird feeder festivities. We look forward to Alice and Ted's return [skip].
