White-Throated Sparrow

It's funny, I had always thought that "sparrow" was basically English Sparrow and that was it.

It wasn't until we started taking pictures at the feeder, and now have a camera capable of getting in close, that I discovered there were other species of sparrow in the yard. The White-Throated sparrow is completely new to me but here it is for you.

Below he/she is with a Junco for comparison.

Welcome

Welcome to Yardisabi (don't ask, just enjoy). This is a place for random pictures taken by a father/daughter team in suburban Connecticut.

Our first shot was taken by the daughter part of the team. It is of a Red-Bellied Woodpecker that we have named "Fatso" since he's put on a few ounces since we began feeding the birds.

More shots follow.
